“Can You Give Back Kohinoor”: Owaisi Retorts After British Diplomat Points Out Poor State Of Telangana Heritage Site

In an apparent spat between AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and British Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming on Twitter, former asked him to return the Kohinoor diamond first when latter complained about poor state of a heritage site in Telangana.
In a tweet, Fleming shared the photo of a building in Balapur of a maqbara, saying he was “dismayed” that the historic site “doubles as a rubbish tip”. He also tagged the Telangana tourism handle.
Things escalated too quickly when Owaisi shot back at the diplomat saying that Fleming was a British diplomat not Queen’s governor-general. He further tagged minister of external affairs Sushma Swaraj to take note, and asked the diplomat to not meddle in the state’s affairs, ending the tweet with, “Having lived in UK, I know it’s not exactly a utopia. Maybe focus on preventing more Greenfells from happening?”
In response, the diplomat tweeted, “Respected sir. I have a passion for heritage as I know you do & feel many amazing monuments fall short of their potential,” adding that he also supported Swachchh Bharat Mission in Hyderabad. He mentioned “overlapping interests” and added,” I see sharing observations part of modern diplomacy. How does this tweet meddle in your affairs?”
In a curt reply, Owaisi said his tweet did interfere in internal affairs as India is an independent country. “Your Excellency you are crossing all boundaries of a DIPLOMAT it all starts with History .....can you give back Kohinoor, Tipu Sultans Personal articles.”
While some Twitter users supported Owaisi, claiming that the diamond discovered by Kakatiya ruler and presented to Goddess Bhadrakali in Warangal rightfully belonged to Telangana, others said that the AIMIM leader had over-reacted and should instead appreciate genuine concerns.
