Central Board of Direct Taxation (Source: Official Website)
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) revealed on 14th November that the glitches and hiccups with the online income tax return filing portal have been resolved.
CBDT Chairman JB Mohapatra said, “All the glitches and hiccups with regard to the filing of income tax returns have been resolved. On an average 2.5 lakh income tax returns are being filed per day.”
Meanwhile, a Taxpayers’ Lounge has been set up at the India International Trade Fair by the Income Tax Department to promote trust and thereby encourage awareness.
The lounge will provide assistance with regards to application for PAN/e-PAN, PAN related queries and also Aadhaar-PAN linking.
It will also solve doubts regarding Form 26AS and also e-filing. Moreover, feedback will be obtained about the problems that the taxpayers are facing through this newly developed mechanism.
Taxpayers can now also access their new Annual Information Statement (AIS) on the e-filing portal.
The AIS now consists of additional categories of information like mutual fund (MF) transactions, remittances from abroad, dividends, securities and interest.
The income tax department had expanded the list of high-value financial transactions that would be available to the taxpayers in their Form 26AS last month by including details of mutual fund (MF) purchases, foreign remittances, as well as information in ITRs of other taxpayers, Moneycontrol reports.
