CBSE Board Exams: Mandatory Frisking, No Watches, Just 24 Students A Class And No Mobiles For Invigilators

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed schools to adopt a slew of measures, ranging from limiting the number of students in a class to 24, to frisking them prior to the exams, with the aim of conducting Class X and XII board examinations in a smooth manner, reports TOI.
The steps were announced in a webcast conducted by CBSE with school principals. The officials promised to release a list of those students spreading rumours of paper leaks online.
In the webcast called ‘Preparedness for Examinations’, principals were asked to ensure frisking of students before letting them enter examination centres; schools are to prevent students from bringing watches, bags or cell phones when appearing for exams.
“Even the invigilators will not be allowed to take mobile phone inside the centre. They said the CBSE has come to know that more than others they had been providing help to students taking exams. All centres were asked to provide for wall clocks as students will only be allowed to take their stationary inside,” revealed a principal.
The CBSE has also directed the schools to only have 24 students in a classroom during the exams. The exception to this directive is if the total number of students is odd.
Another measure that has to be taken by the school authorities is to sanitise the premises on the day of the exam and not permit any unauthorised person entry.
Schools were advised to seek the aid of the local administration in imposing Section 144 of the CrPC in the vicinity of exam centres if required. They were also asked to seek police help in ensuring that no traffic issues cropped up on the day of exams near the centres.
