Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students now have a variety of subjects to choose from in the upcoming session.
Class IX students can pick Yoga, early childhood care and education (ECCE) or artificial intelligence as optional subjects, reports India Today.
The CBSE circular says, "To enhance the multidisciplinary approach in teaching learning and also to sensitise the new generation, it was decided that School may start AI "Inspire module" of 12 hours at Class VIII itself." In the subject on artificial intelligence, the focus will be on its geo-strategic importance. The circular also states that schools can even have the liberty to start a module on AI learning for class eight students.
For class X students, the board has allowed an ‘extra’ subject apart from the five compulsory ones. This ‘skill subject’ will work as a replacement if a student fails in any one of the compulsory subjects. The final results will be computed based on the marks obtained in the best five subjects. Also, the candidates have the freedom to reappear in a subject they have failed in.
Also, CBSE has advised schools to offer at least one Skill subject at Senior Secondary level. The schools will need to send the application to the board for these subjects, and the last date to send the application for the same is 31 March 2019.
