The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to make it compulsory for examiners to write their name on the answer sheets which they check, Tribune India has reported.

Besides this, the board has also directed that the name of the head examiner be also written on the answer copies. This move will be applicable for class 10 and 12 students. Apart from examiner names, the sheets would also have school names written on them.

CBSE argues that this move would ensure greater accountability to avoid hurried checking and mistakes in evaluation. In the earlier practice, the examiners just had to sign the mark-sheets.

To further add transparency, the list of examiners would also be available online. The board would also keep a track of their details like the total copies they check each day and their entry, exit time. Plan is also underway to take videos of the checking centres.

In other news, NCERT is also planning to reduce its syllabus by 10 to 15 per cent from the 2019 academic year. The plan to reduce textbook content is part of HRD Ministry’s rationalisation exercise undertaken to relieve youngsters from curriculum overload.
