CBSE May Grade Class 12 Students On The Basis Of Their Marks In Last Three Years: Report

Speculations are rife that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering grading class 12 board exam students on the basis of their results of classes 9, 10 and 11.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has apparently confidentially notified the schools to submit the marks of the concerned candidates from the previous classes.
This document, dated 27 May, hints at the commencement of a data collation exercise calling for the average marks of students in class 11 and also of several examinations and internal tests that were carried out in the class 12 session.
The CISCE has also directed that the subjects or papers should be the same for which the students have registered or confirmed for the class 12 board exams.
One of the CISCE officials didn’t confirm or deny sending across the ‘strictly confidential’ letter but the schools have assured that they have received the same. This order was temporarily posted on the social media too, only for it to be deleted sometime later, Times of India reports.
Overall, a consensus hasn’t been reached over the manner in which the all-important class 12 board exams would be carried out amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had chaired an all-important high-level meeting comprising of chief ministers, education ministers and secretaries on 23rd May to ponder upon this issue.
Many states seem to be favouring CBSE’s decision to hold shortened exams though others reportedly disagree with this viewpoint whereas some states are also calling for students and staffs to be vaccinated before the tests are held.
