PM Narendra Modi with ITBP personnel
The Government is planning to deploy 2,000 additional troopers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to forward locations along the Indo-China border to bolster vigil and surveillance amid the ongoing tensions between the two nations, reports Economic Times.
It is expected that the Government shall deploy 20 additional companies of the ITBP troopers in different regions along the 3,488 kilometres long border with China.
It should be noted that the ITBP men have already been deployed to man around 180 guarding posts from Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim to Arunachal Pradesh and also from Karakoram Pass to Jachep La - which are both located in Ladakh.
The development comes at a time when the rising tensions between the two nations have already led to the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers including an officer, while China has refused to even reveal the identities and count of its personnel who died in Indian Army's retaliation against its belligerent adventurism in the Galwan Valley.
