Kirron Kher.
Chandigarh, the union territory situated at the tri-junction of Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh was anticipating a close contest between sitting BJP MP Kirron Kher and Congress veteran and three-time MP from Chandigarh from 1999 to 2004, Pawan Kumar Bansal.
As the current trends show, Kher is leading Bansal with a vote share of 48 per cent, with the latter having a vote share of 42 per cent. The significant vote diversion has happened due to the decimation of the AAP in the region, and the votes having gone to both candidates.
Interestingly, the constituency had 36 candidates in the fray, but only two managed to garner some attention. Of the 37 options available, NOTA stands 5th at 920 votes.
If the numbers hold steady, Kirron Kher would be looking at another tenure and shall have a challenge on her hands in terms of infrastructural development amidst other tasks.
