The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has been awarded with the “National Project Excellence Award” for completing and operationalisation of the complete first phase project of the CMRL, Rail News Analysis reports.
The first phase of the Chennai Metro was completed in extremely challenging conditions with marvellous engineering practices and always kept public safety as a priority, a release from CMRL said.
The award was presented by CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant to CMRL Chief General Manager Arvind Kumar Rai in presence of Metro Man E Sreedharan, Founder of Brahmos Aerospace and Project Management Associates (PMA) India President SN Subramanian during the PMA India Summit held at New Delhi on 20 August.
The last stretch of the first phase of the 45-km-long Chennai Metro Rail was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi via a video conference call from Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu in February 2019.
