Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who has overseen the Congress party’s successful show in Punjab for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls has given an ultimatum to the party high command, asking it to either choose him or Navjot Singh Sidhu, India Today has reported.
The infighting in Punjab Congress had began when Sidhu decided to travel to Pakistan for Imran Khan’s swearing-in where he decided to hug the Islamic nation’s army chief.
Following Pulwama, Sidhu decided to take a cushy stance with respect to Pakistan which is said to have further aggravated Amarinder Singh who was a Captain in the Indian Army.
The Punjab Chief Minister has also accused Sidhu of trying to usurp him from power.
Yesterday (23 May), Amarinder Singh had launched an indirect attack on Sidhu by asserting that he won’t tolerate anyone hugging the Pakistani army chief.
Punjab is one of the two states in India where the Congress has fared well by winning a total of eight seats out of 13 seats.
