The government on Monday (6 December) informed the Parliament that over 230 geographical areas covering 407 districts spread across 27 states and UTs have been authorised for the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks.
In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli in a written informed that establishment of CNG Stations and providing PNG connections is part of the development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network and the same is carried out by the entities authorised by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
As on date, 232 Geographical Areas (GAs) covering 407 districts spread over 27 states, UTs have been authorised for the development of CGD networks, the minister said.
Further, in order to increase the gas coverage in the country, PNGRB has launched the 11th CGD Bidding Round on 17 September wherein 65 GAs spread over 20 states and UTs and covering 208 districts have been included for development of CGD network, he said.
