Class XII Goa Board Exams Postponed Following Demise Of CM Manohar Parrikar; 27 March Set As New Date

The Goa education board has postponed its Class XII board examinations following Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s demise on Sunday (17 March), Times of India has reported.
The state government had issued a notification last night (17 March) declaring a seven day state mourning from 18 March to 24 March during which all flags on official buildings would fly at half mast and there would be no state entertainment.
The government also announced that all state government offices, local bodies, public sector undertakings (PSUs) and educational institutions would remain closed today (18 March).
This closure also reportedly resulted in the postponement of Class XII board examinations which were scheduled to be held today. Hence the examinations for banking, computer science, logic and co-operation would be held on 27 March.
Parrikar, who had also served as the the Defence Minister between 2014-17, died on Sunday (17 March) at his private residence in Dona Paula, Goa.
"The Ministry of Defence is requested to make arrangements for state funeral with full military honours," MHA Joint Secretary S K Shahi was quoted as saying by BS.
"The government has decided that state funeral will be accorded to the departed dignitary," Shahi was quoted as saying in a circular.
Parikkar's final rites will be performed at 5 pm on Monday at the Miramar beach, next to the memorial of Dayanand Bandodkar, Goa's first Chief Minister, who was also cremated there.
