Amidst continuing communal tension in Jaipur for the past few days, internet facilities remained suspended in some areas till Wednesday (14 August) night. Section 144 was also imposed in 15 areas of the city, India Today reported.
The clash broke out when stones were pelted at Kaavad yatra by the ‘minority community’ on Sunday (11 August). The incident is said to have taken place in a Muslim dominated area.
Later, on Monday night the minority community blocked Delhi highway in front of Eidgah near Galta Gate and pelted stones on a bus.
The incidents turned more violent on Tuesday where two groups fought against each other, damaging several vehicles and injuring people. Police had to to use tear-gas to calm the situation down.
Over 25 people and nine policemen are reported to have been injured along with damage to dozens of vehicles. It is believed that these clashes were provoked through some rumours.
