General secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy on 25 March (Monday) wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) urging it to ‘improve’ the printing quality of its 'corn and sickle' symbol.

"Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy has written a letter to chief election commissioner to improve the quality of printing of its election symbol 'Corn & Sickle' as it's been in use since 1952," said a statement from the party.

Furthermore, the statement claimed that CPI was the only party in India which has contested all elections since Independence on the same symbol, reported New Indian Express.

The statement added that Reddy suggested to the commission to use new printing technology so that symbols appear more photorealistic and more comfortable to recognise.
