Construction Of Mumbai-Delhi Expressway To Start By December, To Be Ready In Three Years

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that the construction for the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway (MDE) will start by this December and that the project will be complete and ready to use in three years, reports The Indian Express.
Gadkari said that the first tender for the project had been floated and once complete it would reduce the time taken between India’s political and financial capital will go down from 24 to 12 hours.
To be built at a cost of Rs 1 lakh crore, the expressway will pass through the hinterlands of Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. The first tender worth Rs 44,000 connecting Mumbai and Vadodara has been floated. From Vadodara, it will make use of the existing Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway (National Expressway 1, NE 1). The second stretch, connecting Delhi to Amritsar will be floated soon. The southern terminal of the corridor will be at the JN Port Trust in Navi Mumbai.
