The anti-CAA protester who made the statement/Lucknow City Live
A woman at an unauthorised anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) protest in Lucknow’s Ghanta Ghar has told a channel that “Corona has come from the Quran” and the virus won’t harm the protesters.
“...Corona hamare Quran se nikla hai. Corona maane Quran. Aur wo ussi se nikla hai. Aur wo Corona kya hai. Abhi isse bhayanak bhayanak beemari ayengi. Aur upar wale he chaha hamein kuch nahi hoga. Ye wo dare. Hum log darne wale nahi hain,” she told the channel, Lucknow City Live.
Her statement is roughly translated as, “...Corona has come from the Quran. Corona means Quran. It came from there. And what is this Corona? Even more deadlier diseases will emerge after this. God willing, we won’t be harmed. It’s for them to fear. We are not scared.”
The woman is part of on ongoing protest in Uttar Pradesh capital, where protesters have refused to move from the site despite imposition of Section 144 in the area due to coronavirus scare.

"They themselves brought Corona (Citizenship Amendment Act) which we are now trying to repel,” said the protester who vowed to continue until they get “azadi” from the law.
Incidentally, the protesters in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh too have continued with their protest despite appeals from the police and the public. A PIL now seeks their eviction from the protest site.
