Karnataka (Swarajya Graphic)
In a shocking development, a 10-month-old child in Karnataka has tested positive for the virus becoming perhaps the youngest COVID-19 case in the country, reports Bangalore Mirror.
After the child developed fever and acute shortness of breath, he was taken to a private hospital for test. The doctors sent throat swab sample from the child to laboratory for testing on Wednesday (25 March). The test results confirmed that the baby is indeed suffering from coronavirus infection.
Notably, the toddler has no history of travelling to any of the COVID-19 affected countries. The report however states that the child may have travelled to Kerala along with his family members.
He is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. Moreover, six people who were in contact with the baby are kept under home quarantine.
Apart from him, six others have also tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state of Karnataka, taking the total count to 62.
