In a startling revelation, a 2016 batch Indian Administrative Services Officer (IAS), Anupam Mishra, has been booked for jumping home quarantine after returning from Singapore earlier this week, reports Hindustan Times.
Mishra, posted as the Kollam Sub Collector, was asked to self-quarantine after returning from Singapore. However, he left for his home town Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on 21 March, few days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a three-week countrywide lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.
As per the report, his disappearance came to light when health workers went to his official residence for an inquiry a few days ago.
A senior Kerala government spokesman on Thursday (26 March)said the officer’s conduct was “a serious lapse on part of an IAS officer”. The spokesman further added, “A captain can’t leave the ship like this. The action would be initiated against the officer.”
The Kerala government has got in touch with their Uttar Pradesh counterpart and as per officials they will also bring the developments to the notice of the Union Personnel ministry.
Authorities in Kollam administration has put his driver, personal security guard and secretary in isolation after it was discovered that Mishra had left before his end of the quarantine period.
