Coronavirus Pandemic: Dubai Imposes Two-Week Absolute Lockdown To Contain COVID-19 Spread

Escalating the overnight curfew which has been in place since 26 March, Dubai has now imposed a two-week absolute lockdown to contain the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, reports Livemint.
The lockdown came into force on Saturday (4 April) night under the order issued by Dubai's Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management. It would remain enforced for the public round the clock.
During this course, mobility would remain restricted, while the authorities have also resolved to take legal action who act in violation of the same. However, supermarkets, pharmacies, and also food and drug delivery services would continue to operate normally. Also, Dubai's metro train and tram services will remain suspended during this course.
Meanwhile, the administration has permitted people to leave their homes for essential purposes, allowing just one family member to go out at any given time. To facilitate the movement of people and those involved in vital sectors, free bus transportation and a 50 per cent discount on taxi rides has also been implemented for the course of lockdown.
