Amid the ongoing political upheaval in Rajasthan with a streak of sitting MLAs led by senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot having rebelled against Chief Minister (CM) Ashok Gehlot, the latter has levelled big allegations against Pilot, who until a few days ago was the State's Deputy CM, reports Economic Times.

CM Gehlot yesterday (20 July) alleged that a section of corporates based out of Mumbai had tied to 'sponsor' Sachin Pilot as the new president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) after Rahul Gandhi had stepped down from the post of authority following the decimation of his party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

CM Gehlot tried to lend credence to his allegation by linking the claim about corporates sponsoring Pilot as AICC president because Pilot had in the past served in the Government of India as the union minister for corporate affairs.

CM Gehlot went on to allege that the same section of corporates was now sponsoring Pilot's "expensive" lawyers to appease the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government led by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. He was targeting renowned lawyers Harish Salve and Mukul Rohatgi who are representing Pilot in the ongoing case against Rajasthan Speaker C P Joshi.
