PM Modi at the public rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Monday (3 February) launched a blistering attack on Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal over the issue of Lokpal, which was a main plank of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s manifesto in the 2013 Assembly elections, reports Asian News International (ANI).
PM Modi slammed CM Kejriwal and said, "For the first time, the nation got Lokpal. Although the people of the country got Lokpal, but the people of Delhi are still waiting. Such a big movement, such tall claims, what happened to them all?"
PM Modi made the statement while addressing a public gathering in Delhi's Karkardooma ahead of the 8 February Assembly elections.
Earlier in March 2019, Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose was appointed as the nation's first Lokpal, who is the anti-corruption ombudsman and has the power to probe into allegations of corruption by the public functionaries working under the Central government.
At the event, PM Modi also emphasised on how over 10 crore people got toilets at their homes, and 8 crore females got gas stoves at their homes as an outcome of the schemes and policies launched by the government led by him.
