Flight ready to take off (GoAir/Facebook)
To help the low fare air carrier GoAir sail through the tough times amid the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the senior management executives of the company have volunteered to take up a 50 per cent pay cut with immediate effect, reports Economic Times.
The temporary pay cut undertaken by the senior management of the company is aimed at helping the airline navigate through the virulent challenges which COVID-19 has created for the entire aviation industry.
The development follows after fellow carrier IndiGo announced on Thursday (19 March) a top-down five per cent to 25 per cent pay cut for all its employees from 1 April.
Meanwhile, it should be noted that GoAir had last week offered its employees a temporary rotational leave without pay scheme. It has since also begun to lay off its expensive expatriate pilots. Furthermore, the airline has also suspended all its international flights.
