CPM’s Alliance Partner Accuses It Of Hijacking Relief Material Meant For Kerala Flood Victims

Kerala’s ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) has been accused of hijacking relief materials meant for flood relief victims, Manorama has reported. This accusation has been hurled by its alliance partner the Communist Party of India (CPI).
As per the report, the CPM has been accused of diverting relief materials meant for the Munnar relief camp to its party office. The CPI also alleged that this relief material was then being distributed in vehicles affixed with its party flags. This allegation was countered by CPM workers which reportedly led to tensions in Munnar.
The report has claimed that there are numerous complaints of more than half of relief materials being unloaded directly into the CPM office and then being distributed under the party’s banner.
Following such complaints, CPM workers were warned by sub-collector against such actions. Despite this, the CPM tried diverting three relief material shipments on Saturday (25 August), which was stopped by CPI workers.
Such news comes after it was reported that two Kerala government officials were arrested by the police for stealing the relief material.
