Fissures appeared in the Delhi unit of the Indian National Congress (INC) as All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge for Delhi, PC Chacko on Saturday (29 June) overturned Shiela Dikshit's decision to dissolve all 280 block-level committees, reports Economic Times.
The former chief minister of the state and incumbent chief of the party unit in Delhi had been called for a meeting with Rahul Gandhi on Friday (28 June), which was also attended by Chacko. In the meeting Gandhi has been reported to have advised the two to work in unison in the wake of Assembly polls in Delhi scheduled to be held early next year.
However, just hours after the meeting, Dikshit passed the order to dissolve all block committees, taking cognisance of a report by a committee formed by her to probe the party's debacle in the just culminated Lok Sabha elections.
The differences between Chacko and Dikshit had also come to surface during the course of Lok Sabha elections when Chacko along with Ajay Maken had been pushing for an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), but was strongly resisted by Dikshit.
