The jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have entered a new battlefield against a new and unseen enemy. Known for their preparedness in the fight against Maoists and other enemies of India, the jawans are now weaponsing the nation's fight against the Covid-19.
They are pitching in to help in the production of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and masks.
According to a Zee News report, the PPE kits being prepared by the CRPF jawans are being distributed to hospitals and to the police personnel who are among the frontline heroes of India's war against Covid-19.
The jawans are preparing kits day and night. The masks are being prepared at a CRPF centre in Delhi's RK Puram area.
The report says that an official has informed that on a daily basis, 300 to 400 PPE kits and thousands of masks are being prepared. These masks are being sent to different hospitals across the country. The masks are also being provided to jawans manning work in the fight against the spread of the virus.
Dr Yogendra Singh from CRPF told Zee News that the masks will be made available to hospitals that are fighting Covid-19 as per their demand and needs. He said that CRPF is in touch with hospitals and will respond to their needs promptly in different districts.
