Bringing to notice the unabated mushrooming of mosques on government lands in several parts of Delhi-NCR, west Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma has written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal seeking immediate action, reports India Today.
"I would like to apprise you regarding a peculiar type of trend seen in certain parts of my constituency (West Delhi) in particular, but prevailing in the whole Delhi, of mushrooming of mosques on government land, roads and secluded places," he wrote to the Lt Governor.
Verma said that such unabated constructions will not only hamper traffic but also cause inconvenience to the public.
Hoping for serious and immediate action in the same regard, Verma went on to add that a committee of officers from MCD, NDMC, PWD, Police, Irrigation and Flood Control, and Horticulture departments, headed by district magistrates of the concerned areas should be constituted to conduct survey and pinpoint responsibility after proper enquiry.
