Delhi Borders To Open From Monday: Kejriwal Allows Functioning Of Malls, Restaurants

Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday (7 June) announced opening up of the union territory (UT)‘s borders with other states -- Uttar Pradesh and Haryana -- from 8 June, Hindustan Times reported.
The decision has come a day before the beginning of Unlock 1.0 announced by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Several relaxations will be given as the centre decided to open up the country, while lockdown will remain in place in the containment zones.
The CM also said restaurants, malls and places of worship in Delhi will open, while decision on banquet halls will be taken later after assessment. Hotels will remain shut.
Earlier last week, the Delhi government had decided to shut the borders with neighbouring states, while only travel for essential services will be allowed across borders.
The move, however, drew flak as many people from National Capital Region (NCR) including Noida and Gurugram needed to travel to Delhi for work.
