Delhi Election Results: AAP Crosses Majority Mark In Early Trends; BJP Makes Significant Gains From 2015

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has maintained a big lead crossing past the half way mark in the early trends against the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The AAP is currently leading on 50 seats, while the BJP candidates are ahead in 20 constituencies.
Counting of votes began on Tuesday (11 January) for the Delhi Assembly polls that were held on 8 February.
Incumbent Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia along with AAP leaders Atishi and Raghav Chadda have taken a lead in the early counting.
BJP’s Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga is also leading from Hari Nagar assembly seat according to early trends received. Bagga, a Delhi BJP spokesperson, is well known for his social media presence and campaigns. He is facing off against AAP's Rajkumari Dhillon.
Other BJP leaders who are leading from various seats include, Vijender Gupta, O P Sharma, and AAP-turned-BJP leader Kapil Mishra.
Counting for the 70 Assembly constituencies, which started at 8 am, is taking place at 21 locations in the capital city. There were a total of 672 candidates in the fray.
The Delhi Assembly elections held on 8 February, saw a high-voltage campaign between the ruling AAP and the BJP, while the Congress ended up as inconsequential participant.
The exit polls had predicted a comfortable victory for the Kejriwal-led party.
