Delhi Government Hospitals Only Reserved For Residents: Kejriwal Announces; Move Draws Flak

Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal announced on Sunday (7 June) that Delhi government hospitals will be available for the citizens of the city only, while those run by the central government will remain open for all.
The order will remain in force until the coronavirus crisis is dealt with in the capital city.
The CM also said that the private hospitals, except the ones that perform special surgeries like neurosurgery, will also be reserved only for Delhi residents.
While addressing the people of the union territory (UTs) via video conferencing, CM Kejriwal said the city would require at least 15,000 beds as the number of COVID-19 cases continued to surge.
However, the move has received wide criticism on social media with many people pointing out that majority of Delhi population was made of people from other states.
Major political parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress too slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over the decision.
