Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has tested negative for coronavirus on Tuesday (16 June) as he was suspected to be infected after complaining of high fever and breathing issues earlier today, News18 reported.

His condition is also said to have been stable.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader had been later admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital. He himself took to Twitter and informed about his health.

“Due to high grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated,” he wrote.

Jain had, two days ago, attended a meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, and other central and Delhi government officials. Deterioration in Jain’s health had sent chills among authorities over possible transmission to top government Ministers and officials.

This comes on the heels of sudden spurt in COVID-19 cases in the national capital. Delhi has a total of 42,829 corona cases, third-highest in the country.

The city has witnessed a growth of 1,647 cases in the last 24 hours with a total of 1,400 deaths.

On 9 June, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had tested for the novel coronavirus after he complained of mild fever and sore throat. His test report, however, came out to be negative.
