Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has submitted his resignation.
Jung thanked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his association and the people of Delhi for their support. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all the help and cooperation he received during his tenure.
He said he would be returning to academics, "his first love". Eighteen months remain till the end of his tenure, one that was marked by a sharp escalation in tensions between his office, which reported to the central government, and the Aam Aadmi Party government of Kejriwal.
