Delhi Metro: After Magenta Line, DMRC To Start Driverless Train Operations On Pink Line By Mid-2021

Days after Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi flagged off the first-ever driverless metro rail service on the 37-km long Magenta Line, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that its Pink Line corridor will also have driverless operations by the middle of 2021, reports Hindustan Times.
The 59-km long Pink Line corridor of the Delhi metro runs between Majlis Park and Shiv Vihar in the national capital.
It should be noted that India's first fully-automated driverless metro train had been flagged off by PM Modi on 28 December.
With this, DMRC entered the elite and select grouping of seven per cent of the world's metro rail networks which can operate services without any drivers. The train operates between Delhi's Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden stretch of the Magenta Line.
Delhi Metro had begun its commercial operations on 25 December 2002 with just six stations spread across 8.2-km long stretch between Delhi's Shahdara and Tis Hazari. At present, the Delhi Metro has a network of about 390 km and 285 stations across 11 corridors.
