Under Delhi Police Crime branch, two Special Investigation Team (SIT) have been constituted which will investigate the violence in the northeast district, reports Wion.

The teams will be headed by two Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Joy Tirkey and Rajesh Deo, who will immediately take over the investigation.

The death toll from injuries sustained during the Delhi riots against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rose to 38 on Thursday (27 February) as more people succumbed to their injuries.

Briefing the media regarding the security situation, Randhawa, Delhi Police PRO, said, "Adequate forces have been deployed. Forty-eight FIRs registered so far, more FIRs are being registered as we are getting more info."

AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain has been charged by the Police and has registered an FIR under section 302 IPC (Punishment for murder) at Dayalpur police station.

It has been alleged that Hussain was the mastermind behind brutal killing and dismemberment of the body of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, Ankit Sharma. His mutilated body was dumped in a drain near his home in Delhi's northeast riot-hit Chand Bagh area.
