Tablighi Jamaat chief Maulana Saad who had been booked by Delhi Police for holding a week-long religious congregation in New Delhi's Nizamuddin area in contravention of the notified rules to tackle COVID-19 pandemic is still to submit his test report to the force, reports Hindustan Times.

The Delhi Police said on Monday (8 June) that a fresh notice was likely to be issued to Saad to get tested and join the investigation. It should be noted that while six others who had been booked by the police have been questioned, Saad is still to appear before the investigators.

Delhi police has asserted that while it had served a notice to Saad a few weeks ago demanding a copy of his test report from a Government hospital, they are still to receive any such report.

It should be noted that Saad had earlier gotten himself tested at a private laboratory and tested negative. However, the force had stressed on a report from a Government-run laboratory.

The Delhi Police's Crime Branch had filed a criminal case against Saad and six others on 31 March for defying Government directives which had banned religious and large gatherings to contain the spread of the pandemic.
