Delhi University Admission: Cut-Offs May Go Down This Year Due To EWs Quota, Fall In Applications

The first cut-off list for the undergraduate courses in the Delhi University is expected to be released on Friday (28 June), reports The Hindu.
Infamous for having one of the highest cut-offs in the country, Delhi University’s Lady Sri Ram College drew the line at 98.75 per cent for BA programme last year.
However, there may be some sigh of respite this year as the university increased its intake by 10 per cent, in order to accommodate the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota. Thus, the number of seats up for the grabs has gone up to around 63,000 from approximately 56,000 last year.
In the meantime, the number of students applying for DU has gone down by 20,000 this year, possibly due to the new application process being put into place. This has led to the speculation of the cutoff possibly going down this time round.
Bachelor's Degree in English continues to be the most sought after course followed by BA in Political science, BA Programme, BA in Economics and BA in History among others.
The admissions are done on the basis of marks scored in class XII or equivalent courses. Any admission to a top-ranked college under the university demands an academic scoring of over 90 per cent.
