On Sunday (25 June), thousands of devotees from Cuddalore and neighbouring districts witnessed Sri Sabanayagar Temple's car procession during the Aani Thirumanjanam festival, a major event.
The Sri Sabanayagar Temple in Chidambaram is also known as Sri Natarajar Temple.
At around 7 am, five cars carrying Lord Nataraja and his consort Sivagamasundari, Lord Vinayaka, Lord Subramaniam, and Chandigeswar rolled out from the temple premises.
The devotees pulled the cars through the town, covering the four car streets.
After the procession, the temple brought Lord Nataraja and Goddess Sivagamasundari to the 1,000-pillar mandapam, where they performed special pujas.
'Arudra Darshan' is the other important annual 10-day festival when Lord Nataraja is taken out around the four car streets in the temple town.
