Digvijay Singh’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’: Senior Congress Leader Admits That Party Gets Less Votes If He Campaigns

In a startling confession, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh was heard in a video saying that his party’s votes will reduce if he campaigns for it. The incident comes at the wrong time for the Congress party as Madhya Pradesh is poll-bound with Singh having served two terms as the state’s chief minister.
The Congress president, Rahul Gandhi is currently in Madhya Pradesh to campaign for the party. Digvijaya Singh, noticeably, has not been present at the rallies addressed by the party president.
“I have only one job, no campaigning, no speech. When I deliver a speech, Congress votes get reduced, so I don’t go” Singh is heard saying in the video.
When questioned on the statement made, Singh said the video was not being shown accurately.
“It is not being shown in the right manner, especially the first part. If you hear the first part, you will understand it in a proper way,” Singh said, as reported by Hindustan Times.
The ruling BJP and the Chief Minister took no time to take shots at the Congress and the way they treat their senior leaders.
“I never imagined the Congress would treat one of its leaders in this manner. Congressmen should, at least, respect their leader,” the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
State Congress chief Kamal Nath parried questions on Singh’s video by saying, “I am not aware of the context in which he was stating this”.28
28 November is the date set for the polls, and the counting of votes will be done on 11 December.
