Dismantling SP Era Legacies: Yogi Adityanath Government Cancels Recruitment Of 4,000 Urdu Teachers

The Uttar Pradesh government has cancelled the recruitment of 4000 Urdu teachers for the state’s government schools, India Today has reported. According to the Additional Chief Secretary of Basic Education Department, Prabhat Kumar, the reason for stalling recruitment of new teachers is because the state government believes that it has a sufficient number of Urdu teachers already.
The process for recruiting 4000 more teachers was started by the state government under Akhilesh Yadav during the fag end of his term. The application process was started in December 2016 and counselling was scheduled for March 2017. However, the Yogi government stalled the process as soon as it came to power.
The candidates had filed a case against the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board or Uttar Pradesh Basic Shiksha Parishad at the High Court. The court ruled in favour of the applicants and asked the government to complete the recruitment process. However, the state government has filed a review petition against the order.
