Disruptions And Flight Delays After Software Glitch Causes Air India Servers To Crash Globally

Air India flights across the globe ran into a state of disarray and commotion as its servers crashed and remained in that state for almost six hours from 3.30 am to 9 am on Saturday (27 April 2019), reports The New Indian Express.
There was apparently a glitch which crippled the check-in software which is built and operated by Atlanta-based SITA, a global airlines IT services major. As a result, boarding passes could not be issued at several major airports, causing flight delays and passenger woes.
The airline issued a statement confirming a glitch in its check-in software. The airline’s server is down, an official told PTI. Later, CMD Air India Ashwani Lohani announced that operations have resumed. Lohani also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers.
Normal operations have resumed now, and the software flaw has been rectified.
Previously, in June last year (2019), a technical glitch in the airline’s check-in software delayed 25 of its flights across India.
