DMRC’s Magenta Line To Be Connected With Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 With Subway Equipped With Travelators

Going futuristic, Delhi airport is getting more convenient for flyers to access.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is coming up with a subway to connect its Magneta line with Terminal 1. The subway is going to be the first one in India to have travelators, reports Financial Express.
As of now, people have to cross a road to to get into Terminal 1 from gate number 3 of the Magneta Line’s airport station. After de-boarding the metro, people also have to walk 200-300 metres with their luggage.
To ease out the connectivity, the DMRC will come up with a 370 meter long subway to link both the ends till the arrival and departure areas of the terminal. Sixty per cent of the subway related work is complete and it is expected to be operational by July.
The construction was earlier scheduled to be finished in January but the timeline had to be extended.
Terminal 1 of the airport has a footfall of around 66,000 passengers per day.
