A draft proposal for peaceful settlement of of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Mosque dispute in Ayodhya will be ready by 6 December, Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi has said, according to the Hindustan Times.
“I have discussed the terms and conditions for an out-of-court settlement with the mahants of Ayodhya and all other petitioners. Another meeting with them is due next week to give final touches to the accord,” Rizvi has said.
Rizvi said he would visit Ayodhya soon to discuss the draft agreement and “something concrete would materialise” by 6 December.
“Partitioning the disputed land equally among three parties, as decided by the high court, would not be a peaceful and lasting solution to the problem,” he added.
Rizvi said that he would not involve the Sunni Central Waqf Board in the process and he alone was entitled to negotiate with other stakeholders.
The Shia Central Waqf Board chairman had on 31 October met Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar for a negotiated settlement.
