The Election Commission has put a ban on a theme song on BJP by Union Minister Babul Supriyo, media reports have claimed.
Th song, penned by Amit Chakraborty, asks to say no to Trinamool Congress and envisages the blooming of the Saffron colours in West Bengal, in the LS elections.
Under the hashtag #EiTrinamoolArNa, Babul Supriyo tweeted using the same words in the songs which translates into, “this Trinamool no more”.
Justifying the move, Additional Electoral Officer Sanjay Basu said, “The theme song was not pre certified for which we had informed the Commission. As the song is being played in different places, there are instructions to stop it”.
The EC further added that, not seeking prior permission from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee is a violation of the model code of conduct. The EC’s state unit has asked the BJP to submit a revised version after BJP submitted the lyrics of the song.
TMC, had filed a complaint regarding the content of the song.
