Maker Village in Kochi has developed an underwater robotic drone that can send real-time video of ships, and other marine structures that can provide an impetus in repair and maintenance, reports The Economic Times

‘Eyerovtuna’ the first ever commercial remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the underwater drone was developed by EyeROV Technologies, a company incubating in Maker Village in Kochi.

Maker Village has emerged as one of the most significant hardware incubators in the country. National Physical Oceanographic Laboratory (NPOL), an arm of The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has made an order for the product.

The drone can dive to a depth of 50 meters and take real-time High Definition (HD) video images which can be used to delve into ship hulls or undersea cables or bridge moorings without manual inspection. It offers high manoeuvring capability at low cost and can be put to work at ports, nuclear power plants, search and rescue, naval mine detection, dams and ocean studies.
