Irate fans of Tamil actor Joseph Vijay (popularly known as Vijay) went on a rampage in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu after a scheduled special show of the actor’s new movie Bigil was delayed by an hour, The New India Express reported.
A case has been registered and 36 people have been arrested in connection with the case.
Apparently outraged over the slight delay in the timing of the show, Vijay fans went berserk, breaking barricades, boards. The furious fans also began burning the banners and flags they brought along with them. Some even pelted stones.
Police had to be deployed in large numbers to bring the situation under control.
Thousands of hysterical fans thronged cinema halls across the state today screaming, “Adutha Thamizhaga Mudhalvar Thalapathy!” (Hailing Vijay, who is fondly referred to as ‘Thalapathy’ by his fans, as the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu).
Earlier this week, a group of fans consumed ‘Man Soru’ (Eating food on the floor or the ground without a plate) at a temple in Mayiladuthurai praying to the almighty for ensuring a smooth release of his film.
As ‘Bigil’ has been embroiled in few controversies and lawsuits in the run up to its theatrical release, his fans came together to eat ‘Man Soru’ at the Sri Prasanna Mariamman Temple.
The actor’s fans also claimed that they they are not deterred that they were subject to ridicule in social media and express their thanks to their counterparts in other districts for the support they offered.
It is not uncommon to witness frenzied fans burst crackers, performed milk abhishekam on their reel life hero’s cut-out besides singing and dancing in front of theatres from wee hours of morning during the day of the movie release.
