Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar flagged off the first bus service connecting Bihar and Nepal on Tuesday (11 September). It was announced that four buses would ply from Bodhgaya to Kathmandu and this route would also cover the cities of Patna, Raxaul and Beerganj.

Another route would connect the cities of Patna and Janakpur and this route would traverse through Muzzafarpur and Sitamarhi. The bus services have been introduced under an agreement between India and Nepal.

The Bihar Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion of flagging of bus services expressed the hope that the relationship between Nepal and Bihar would be strengthened as a result of this transport link.

The reverse bus journey from Kathmandu to Bodhgaya was said to have been stated by the Nepal government on Thursday (13 September).

The bus services would not only strengthen the people to people contact between two neighboring regions but also give a boost to tourism on the Buddhist circuit as the Nepalese capital would be directly linked to Bodhgaya.
