Arrested J&K Police DSP Davinder Singh (Picture via Facebook)
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) over the past few days took up and concluded an exercise to carry out checks and audits on its over three lakh personnel to check for any subversive individuals in its ranks, reports The Economic Times.
The exercise was taken up in the light of a decorated Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (now suspended) Davinder Singh having been caught by security forces while trying to ferry terrorists outside of the Kashmir Valley.
Expressing disgruntlement over Singh's conduct and calling it "a grave incident and an area of extreme concern," CRPF's Director General (DG) A P Maheshwari noted that all the forces would have to keep an internal watch as security grid can not be allowed to be weakened by such episodes.
Being the lead force for counter-terrorism and anti-Naxal operations across the country, DG Maheshwari pressed that it was a matter of 'common sense' for the CRPF to carry out such an audit of its entire force at a time when an armed forces personnel has been caught in company of terrorists.
