Various gifts received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be auctioned and the proceeding will go towards supporting the Namami Gange project, announced Ministry of Culture.
Around 1,900 gifts received by Modi will be auctioned via the portal pmmementoes.gov.in. The gifts include various souvenirs, paintings, shawls, scrolls, jackets, traditional musical instruments and a variety of other items, reports AIR.
All these items are currently being displayed at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi’s Jaipur house. The physical auction will take place at the same venue on 27 and 28 January. Those interested can also participate in an e-auction which will take place from 29 to 31 January. All the funds raised will be used to clean the river Ganga.
The base prices of the items range from as low as Rs 200 to Rs 30,000.
The products also include gold-plated Radha and Krishna Idols which Modi received from Surat’s Mandavi Nagar Palika.
The Namami Gange project has recently been credited with making steady progress in cleaning river Ganga. This includes stemming the flow of sewage in the river and revamping necessary infrastructure.
