The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked the former chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki on charges of corruption relating to a project during his tenure, reports The Indian Express.

Nabam Tuki, who belongs to the Congress party, was the chief minister of the state between 2011 and 2016. The case against him stems from a project worth Rs 3.2 crore in 2003 in which alleged irregularities took place. At that time, he held the position of minister of consumer affairs and civil supplies in the state.

He has been accused of siphoning off funds from the project for personal gratification, with the involvement of his brother Nabam Tagam. The project was a government contract to build parking space at two sites in the state.

Just a few days ago, CBI had also registered a case against Nabam Tagam, and had also booked Nabam Tuki’s wife.
