Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Aparajita Sarangi who decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after 11 years of service in 2018, has won the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 23,839 votes against Biju Janata Dal's (BJD) Arup Patnaik who is known for his stint as the Commissioner of Mumbai Police.
Having won with an impressive vote share of 48.45 per cent, Sarangi, one of the BJP's best bets in Odisha has delivered well on her ticket. Sarangi edged past her BJD opponent by winning with a margin of over 23,000 votes.
Bhubaneswar is expected to reap rich dividends from Sarangi's rich experience as a join secretary in the union rural development ministry and as the municipal commissioner of the city between 2006 and 2008.
