Kerala unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) received a shot in the arm as many prominent public personalities including G Madhavan Nair and G Raman Nair joined the party, Mathrubhumi has reported.
G Madhavan Nair is a former ISRO chairman while G Raman Nair is a former Tranvancore Devaswom Board President and KPCC executive committee member.
BJP national president Amit Shah, who is on a visit to the state, welcomed the new entrants to the party at a conference held at Hotel Taj on Saturday (27 October).
Former Women’s Commission member Dr. Prameela Devi, JDS district vice-president Karakulam Divakaran Nair and Thomas John from Malankara Church were among others who joined the BJP.
Pandalam palace executive committee president PG Sasikumara Varma and other office bearers and representatives of various organisations who are spearheading the protests at Sabarimala also met Amit Shah. The Pandalam palace presented him a memorandum explaining the demands of the devotees led protest movement against the Sabarimala verdict.
Kerala State BJP Chief P. S Sreedharan Pillai said that the party is in discussions with many leaders from both the major political fronts and “there will be miracles as some senior leaders have expressed their interest in the proposals that we have given them”.
BJP sources also claim that the party top leadership is already having discussions with a prominent Left leader whose exit may come as a major shock to ruling communist party of the State, CPM.
